Tracy Lévesque is a painter based in New England. She works out of Boston, Massachusetts and the Berkshires.
Lévesque draws on the colour, light and form of the natural world as a distinct entity refracted by the imagination of the artist.
Lévesque's portraits and landscapes are done in varying textures using a combination of brushwork and palette knife. Her signature black outline technique gives the painting a surreal reality reminiscent of stained glass. The application is done spontaneously and is a direct response to the colour and energy observed in Nature caught by the human eye in a moment of realization. The flux, movement, individuality and vivaciousness are captured in thick impasto strokes and broad flourishes of pigment. A painting, like a human being, is a character in itself, full of individuality and life and Lévesque's paintings are an attempt to capture and celebrate such a complex creature and share it with the world.
